Information About Sound & Healing

“What makes us feel drawn to music is that our whole being is music: our mind and body, the nature in which we live, the nature which has made us, all that is beneath and around us, it is all music.”
Hazrat Inyat Khan (Sufi Master) (1882-1927)

Sound healing event

When our rhythms and vibrations are not in alignment and harmony on all levels of our being – physical, emotional, mental and spiritual, we fall into states of disease and stress.
Through the power of sound, we can begin to heal our wounds and replenish our life force, learning ways to reconnect with our deepest inner rhythms, and re-tune the frequencies of our bodies.

Brain Waves
Scientists have shown that sound and music affect our brain waves, metabolism and physiological responses, and can create profound cellular change. Sound is used to alter brainwave states to help people with sleep disorders and facilitate creative expression. The medical community also uses sound and music in a variety of applications such as during surgery to relieve pain, to break up gall stones and to relax muscles using ultrasound. Some doctors are now using the resonant frequency of organs in order to help vibrate them back into a healthy state.

Instruments for Change
There are a wide range of techniques that utilise sound as a tool for change. The most common and basic use of sound is for meditation and relaxation. Chanting, toning and overtone singing are some of the most powerful methods for resonating sound throughout the body. The use of nature sounds and natural instruments have specific healing frequencies and harmonics.

Crystal Singing Bowls
These magnificent singing bowls are each tuned to a different frequency which address different aspects of the body’s needs. Being made from 99.8% pure silicon quartz they create wave patterns equivalent to the alpha waves of the brain. The human body has a natural affinity to quartz. The pure tones interact with the crystalline structure of our blood, bones and DNA promoting healing at a cellular level.

An important part of a Sound Bath Healing is the playing of the didgeridoo, both in the location and over each participant. The didgeridoo produces sounds that fall well below our typical hearing range. The range of sounds can be deeply touching and haunting, taking us back to ancient times in a powerful, earth-centred and mystical way. This creates states of deep relaxation and access to higher consciousness.

Rhythm is such a fundamental part of life and since ancient times humans have connected to the beating of drums. Shamanic drumming can take you into an altered state of consciousness to promote healing and greater awareness, release stress and build group consciousness.
